Biologist, Mike Denton is a long standing sceptic of the current mechanistic world view and sees increasing signs in many branches of science of a new paradigm emerging.   His books "Evolution: A Theory in Crisis" and “Nature’s Destiny" question Darwin's theory and present evidence that far from being random and without direction, the laws of nature operate by design.  A leading researcher in the field of genetic eye disease Mike's international research project at the University of Otago significantly contributed to our knowledge of retinal diseases.

In his talk Mike presents evidence pointing towards a conception of the cosmos in which life and mankind appear to occupy a central place; a world view which remarkably echoes the old world view of the pre scientific age.   Alluding to many phenomena, from cosmology to human biology,  he shows just how remarkably the laws of nature appear to be adapted for life.  He suggests the universe and everything we know appears to make most sense when viewed as it was before the 16th century; as an organic whole where all its parts, including ourselves, partake of the vital life of the whole and reflect the fundamental nature of that greater whole to which we all belong.
